Mood Alert February 4th

4th – 5th February 2009

This is yet another of two or three days of a broadly similar emotional outlook.

As we mentioned yesterday this atmosphere sits between two separate and distinct mood blocks. One is the so called ‘doldrum period’ between the New Moon and Full Moon, and the other is the emerging emotions associated with the impending Full Moon in four or five days time.

With regards to moods and feelings we find an atmosphere very similar to the previous alert period. That is for moods that vary between a disposition to easy disappointment and disillusionment to feelings of an altogether more robust and zestful nature.

With regard to the more depressive side of this alert pattern there is likely to be some tendency towards reduced self confidence and enthusiasm so that getting going may require above average exertion and determination.

Under these circumstances there may be a perplexing mixture of feelings with a disposition that may at times appear keen and enthusiastic, but lacking that spark of initiative that would make the best possible use of these feelings. Some degree of irritability and impatience may be apparent and there may be an urgent sense of restlessness, with a tendency to complicate problems or turn them over in ones mind so that they assume undue dimensions.

Coming days are likely to see a change towards more strident, aggressive,  and forceful mood impulses with stronger enthusiasm and determination, but also the potential to become confused with lowered concentration and focus.

At the moment there may be a loathing for making major decisions which will tend to be postponed if at all necessary and there may be a similar distaste for assuming positions requiring a high degree of responsibility. The reality is that decisions and choices may be made on instinct, or on the spur of the moment rather than well considered deliberation. Inevitably this may lead to major mistakes or financial losses or else commit oneself to a course of events that one may later regret.

Alert is 7.5. Moon 65% illuminated.

Cycle 24 is underway

The latest Sun spot cycle is now underway. The Sun’s activity is never quite constant and for reasons not fully understood corresponds to a cycle that takes 11 years to complete. We are currently exiting a period of low Solar activity and beginning the slow journey to the peak of Cycle 24 that will occur sometime between 2010 and 2012. The effects of Pluto

It should be mentioned that since early November Jupiter has been in close alignment with Pluto. We have not devoted much space to this alignment because there is some debate as to what precisely, if any, the effects of Pluto really are?

There is also some debate as to what Pluto really is. Formerly it was regarded as a planet, but has now been reclassified as a minor planet, number 134340. Unlike most of the other “planets” its discovery was quite late, and it was not until 1930 that its existence was finally confirmed, even though it had been largely predicted since 1840.

But does Pluto have any effect on moods and emotions? Here several things spring to mind. The first is that Pluto is quite remote from the Earth. The second is that Pluto is quite tiny in size – less than a fifth the mass of the Moon. Taking these two factors together it is clear that whatever effects it does have, must be slight and very subtle. The fact is we don’t really know.

As a newly discovered “planet.” there is less than a hundred years of experience to draw upon which is too little to form any firm conclusions. However the fact that Pluto does influence things is beyond doubt as it was precisely its invisible effects on other planets in the Solar system that first lead to its discovery.

You also have to take into account that because of its remoteness, alignments of Pluto with some of the other planets only come around after relatively long periods of time. For example the current Jupiter/Pluto alignment occurs only once in every 13 years, and there have been only about six since the time of its discovery. Hence any conclusions based on its mood effects must be tempered by scepticism, and this is why we have made little if any reference to this alignment. Nevertheless some authorities feel qualified to bring out likely prognostications, and with some reservation we include the likely effects of the current Jupiter/Pluto alignment which are shown below:

Jupiter/Pluto effects.

These include “the ability to make new beginnings from existing ‘worn out’ conditions…. with a tendency towards destructive, drastic, or obsessional forms of compensation for personal inadequacies.”
