Mysterious illness plagues Gulf oil disaster workers

SAN ANTONIO — For weeks now, local hospitals have tracked patients with suspicious symptoms coming in from the gulf coast. Doctors are having trouble distinguishing it from the flu.

“What makes it challenging is that patients show up with non-specific symptoms. Headaches, fatigue, problems with memory and concentration, upset stomach,” lists Dr. Claudia Miller at UT Health Science Center.

The illness is called “TILT,” or Toxicant-Induced Loss of Tolerance. Patients lose tolerance to household products, medication, or even food after being exposed to chemicals, like burning oil, toxic fumes, or dispersants from the spill.

“Things like diesel fuel, exposure to fragrances, cleaning agents that never bothered them before suddenly bother them,” adds Dr. Miller.

TILT has been difficult to track because symptoms are similar to the flu. Currently, Dr. Miller is educating primary care doctors on how to spot and treat the illness before it gets worse. Though it’s not contagious, the best cure right now is staying away from affected areas.

“Be sure to wear protective equipment and stay out of areas with smell, if [you] feel sick,” Dr. Miller says. “The smells are usually chemicals that can make them ill.”

Receptor Binding Domain Change D225G Confirmed in Ukraine

Mill Hill has released a series of sequences from patients in Ukraine.  Four of the samples had the receptor binding domain change D225G.  Three samples were from lung, one from a throat swab.

Has Baxter Released a Biological Weapon?

*Via David Rothscum. Goes with what I was posting previously on Baxter. GET THIS INFORMATION OUT THERE, PEOPLE. THIS IS THE REASON I CAME BACK TO DOING BLOGGING!!*

 

Evidence appears to suggest that Baxter International is responsible for a new deadly outbreak of viral pneumonia in Ukraine.

In February of 2009 Bloomberg reported that Baxter “accidentally” send vaccine material containing both live Avian bird flu and seasonal influenza to multiple laboratories worldwide. A laboratory decided to test the vaccine on it’s ferrets, but the ferrets all unexpectedly died. It must be noted that Baxter has made a “mistake” like this before. Blood products produced by Baxter once containd HIV. Thousands of haemophiliacs died due to this, and many went on to infect their spouses.

Later in the year, a bizarre story emerged on the internet. The Huffington Post reported on a a man named Joseph Moshe who was arrested after a hours long standoff with the police because he had supposedly made threats against the White House. The man was able to withstand multiple rounds of tear gas.

However, the internet community was very skeptical of the true reasons behidn this man’s arrest. Comments on the Huffington Post website immediately began pouring in about an unreported side to this story, namely that Joseph Moshe was a Mossad Agent specialized in biological warfare who called into a radio show to warn people about a biological weapn that was being made by Baxter international that would be spread through vaccine and would cause a plague upon it’s release.

Although anyone can make a doomsday claim and we should never believe anyone (and it must be said that the Truth movement handled this well, the message was spread without being proclaimed as gospel) the amazing part about Moshe’s claim was the location where Moshe said the biological weapon was being produced.

Moshe claimed that Baxter’s laboratory in the Ukraine out of all places was creating this biological weapon. All of this came out in the beginning of August, which is more than 2 months before the situation that is currently unfolding. For Moshe to correctly name the country where a new epidemic would be unleashed, requires either inside information, or an incredible coincidence as anyone with a basic knowledge of statistics can confirm for himself.

Let us assume for a moment that every person on our planet has an equal chance of giving rise to a new lethal epidemic due to a virus that mutates as it spreads through his body. The Ukraine has 46 million inhabitants. The current estimated global population is about 6.7 billion. This means that if a new epidemic were to arise, the chance of this epidemic starting in the Ukraine would be 0.69%. However, it appears that this virus is a form of flu. This makes the odds of being right when guessing that a deadly flu is going to break out in the Ukraine even smaller. The reason for this is that back in early August the vast majority of influenza infections were found in different countries than the Ukraine. In fact, on 30 Oktober, Earthtimes reported that Ukraine had officially reported only two cases of swine flu, and no deaths, until last Friday. This deadly epidemic appears to have arrived out of nowhere in the Ukraine.

Moshe’s biomed profile appears to confirm his position as a microbiologist. Furthermore, this page with Baxter’s contact information for it’s Ukraine office confirms that Baxter has a presence in the Ukraine.

It must also be noted that massive numbers of microbiologists have been dying bizarre deaths. This case of what appears to be a brave man who sacrificed it all to bring us this message may explain why so many microbiologists have been murdered. The fact that this man managed to predict an outbreak of highly lethal influenza in a place where we would least expect it, 2 months before it a actually occured, lends credence to his claim that Baxter International is responsible for the outbreak and shows that top microbiologists can pose a problem to the people responsible for this ongoing disaster.

Update 3: According to the Huffington post comments I cited above, Dr. Moshe claimed that the virus used replicated RNA of the 1918 Spanish flu. Symptoms of the 1919 Flu include victims being drenched in blood:

The 1918 influenza was not the flu Americans were familiar with. It was a horror that turned victims bluish-black then drowned them with their own body fluids. the death toll was highest in the ages 15 to 40, those in the peak of health. The victims would be fine one minute and the next incapacitated, fever-racked, and delirious. Temperatures rose to 104-106 degrees, skin turned blue, purple, or deep brown from lack of oxygen. Massive pneumonia attacked the lungs, filling them with fluid; blood gushed from the nose. Death was quick, savage, and terrifying.

Compare this to reports that are coming out from Ukraine:

Five persons have died from the flue in Lviv, four men and one woman, says emergency hospital chief doctor Myron Borysevych.

Two of the dead patients were in the 22-35 age group, with 2 others over 60. He diagnosed the disease as viral pneumonia.

Viral tests can last from one to two weeks. They are complicated and not done in Lviv. The course of the disease was very quick. The symptoms included very high temperature and short-wind cough.

All the six dead young people had symptoms of severe hemmorhagic pneumonia. The disease starts slowly, with temperature rising to 37.2 – 37.3 degrees, slight cough and pain in joints. Nasal catarrh developed at the end of the second or third day. Autopsy revealed that the lungs were soaked with blood, the oblast chief specialist said.

Inuits hit by swine flu

The World Health Organisation yesterday warned that swine flu was causing unusually serious levels of infection among Inuits in Canada, as it geared up to formally announce a global pandemic.

Keiji Fukuda, the agency’s assistant director-general, said a “larger number than expected” of young Inuit people was being hospitalised, in a trend that raised the prospect that the virus may have a more severe impact on some groups of people, similar to the experience in Mexico.

The authorities in Manitoba in Canada confirmed they had brought in extra ventilators and specialists to study the disease as they confirmed a “surge” in people requiring intensive care. They confirmed more than 40 H1N1 cases to date, the majority among those of aboriginal descent.

The trend could indicate a genetic susceptibility of Inuit peoples, who have been badly affected by past flu pandemics, as well as their relative economic and social deprivation. It may trigger concerns about a strong impact in some other poorer parts of the world as the virus spreads.

The developments came as Mr Fukuda indicated that the WHO was “really getting very close” to announcing its highest level pandemic phase, with any remaining delay caused primarily by the need to prepare countries and the general public about the meaning of its “phase 6”.

In a media teleconference, Mr Fukuda said the WHO was keen to avoid “misunderstanding” if it called a pandemic, which could spark panic and inappropriate actions such as travel restrictions or animal culling.

The decision to delay comes in spite of the fact that the agency has recorded more than 26,563 confirmed cases of H1N1 in 73 countries, including 140 deaths, with widespread infection in Australia as well as the Americas.

Under its existing criteria, widespread transmission in two geographical regions between local people – rather than among those returning from another infected region – should be sufficient to trigger its highest level of alert.

After pressure from a number of countries last month at a summit in Asia and at the World Health Assembly in Geneva, the WHO agreed to re-examine its method of assessing a pandemic after the spread of the virus suggested that its severity was relatively mild.

Mr Fukuda said it would not change its definition of phase 6, but would supplement it with a clarification on the severity of the infection. “It’s a matter of making sure we are as prepared as possible,” he said.

Alberta government accused of hiding H1N1 information

An Airdrie middle school will remain open despite a student there testing positive for H1N1.

A letter went home to parents yesterday of students at the Ecole Airdrie Middle School, asking them to watch their children for symptoms and call Health Link before going to the doctor.

The Alberta government, however, is refusing to release the name of the school another infected child attends.

The opposition is accusing the province of hiding information about the school of the young girl currently hospitalized in Edmonton with a severe case of the flu.

Calgarians seem to agree.

The people 660News spoke with say they aren’t particularly happy that the government is holding back the information.

Many say the government shouldn’t have a problem with releasing what school the young girl goes to, especially since the virus doesn’t seem to be as serious as initially thought.

One mother says parents have the right to know, because it should be up to them to decide whether it’s safe to send their kids to a school where an infected child has gone.

Second flu strain complicates picture

A second strain of influenza, one of the seasonal strains, may have mutated and may be complicating the picture in Mexico, Canadian researchers reported today.

They have found a strain of the H3N2 virus that appears to have made a shift and could have complicated the flu picture in Mexico, epicenter of an outbreak of a new strain of the H1N1 swine flu virus.

One was seen in a traveler returning from Mexico, the team at the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control reported to Pro-MED, an online forum for infectious disease experts. And it may have been involved in an unusually late outbreak of flu in long-term care facilities this year.

The new H1N1 virus has killed at least 42 people in Mexico and two in the United States, has spread globally and brought the world to the brink of a pandemic.

It appears to act like seasonal flu but doctors have been confused because it has also killed some young and apparently healthy adults – not the usual pattern for influenza, which picks off the elderly, chronically ill and very young.

Danuta Skowronski and colleagues said they routinely sequence the hemagglutinin gene from a sample of influenza viruses submitted each season by community doctors, hospitals and care facilities across the province of British Columbia, Canada.

Hemagglutinin gives a flu virus the “H” in its name, as in H1N1 or H3N2, and is found on the surface of the virus.

Vaccines target hemagglutinin and when it changes, the vaccine must be changed, too. This year the vaccine targets strains of H3N2 influenza, an H1N1 strain different from the new swine flu strain, and an influenza B strain.

“Until mid-February 2009, amino acid sequences of the hemagglutinin gene of H3 viruses in British Columbia were virtually identical to the vaccine strain,” Dr Skowronski wrote.

“In early March 2009, however, we detected additional differences from the vaccine strain among British Columbia viruses collected from facility outbreak settings.” They only found these changes in flu samples taken from patients in care facilities.

When news broke of the new H1N1 strain, they ran more tests.

“We have sequenced the hemagglutinin gene of one of the H3 viruses from an ill traveler returning from Mexico and find it shares the same … changes,” they wrote.

“In British Columbia, these H3 mutations arose sometime in early March 2009 and we observe at least one returning traveler to have likely acquired illness due to this virus in Mexico,” they wrote.

“We thus also wonder to what extent the profile of influenza-like illness initially reported from mid-March in Mexico may in part be attributed to this H3N2 variant in addition to emergence of the novel A/H1N1 virus.”

Elderberry Benefits

Elderberry (Sambucus nigra [Latin]), also called elder flower, is a tree that bears cream-colored flowers followed by dark purple berries in autumn. Elderberry trees are native to Europe, but have been naturalized to the Americas, and have a long history of medicinal use, particularly in England, where it is commonly used to make elderberry wine and pies, and was once referred to as “nature’s medicine chest.”

Elderberry has been traditionally used for to relieve pain, inflammation, water retention, and congestion. All parts of the elderberry tree, including the bark, flowers, and leaves, have been used in herbal medicine. Elderberry leaves are added to topical creams and sitz baths to treat inflammatory disorders, such as arthritis, boils, and eczema. Aged elderberry bark has been used to treat water retention and constipation, and to induce vomiting.

However, it is the flowers and berries of this tree that are most often used medicinally. Elderberries contain flavonoids, which are natural chemical substances that give food their taste and color; they also boost the immune system, and supply the body with antioxidant protection. Elderberry may be effective in treating some diseases related to a depressed immune system, and preliminary studies have shown it may be effective against some viruses, including herpes and the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Elderberry is one of the most effective herbs for preventing and treating upper respiratory infections. Laboratory studies have shown that elderberry reduces excessive sinus mucus secretion, and some studies also suggest that elderberry can help lessen swelling of mucous membranes, improve sinus drainage, and decreased nasal congestion in those with bacterial sinusitis. The combination herbal product Sinupret, which contains elder flowers, has been used successfully to treat bronchitis. There are also commercial syrups and lozenges with elderberry extract available for treatment of cold or flu symptoms.

Elderberry has been shown to be very effective against at least eight strains of flu virus. It contains Sambucus nigra agglutinins (SNAs), which help prevent some types of flu from infecting healthy cells. A clinical trial of elderberry found that it cured 90 percent of flu infections in three days, which was half the time needed for recovery in participants taking a placebo. In Israel, where the study was conducted, elderberry is sold in the form of Sambucol, a patented herbal medicine recommended for treatment of flu symptoms.

Elderberry is also sold in the form of tablets, capsules, tinctures, extracts, and in combination products such as Sinupret. You can also buy dried elder flowers or berries and use them to make medicinal teas—2 teaspoons of dried European elder flowers steeped for 15 minutes in 1 cup of hot water. Fresh elderflowers can also be used to make a topical cream for relief of arthritis—simmer several handfuls of fresh elder flowers in melted petroleum jelly for 40 minutes, and allow this mixture to cool and solidify before applying it to the hands at bedtime.

If you are going to consume elderberry, your best bet is probably to go with a commercially prepared product. Large doses of elderberry juice contain a chemical called sambunigrin, which can induce can cause uncontrollable diarrhea, and uncooked berries can cause nausea and vomiting, even if they are ripe. Elderberry bark, leaves, seeds, and raw or unripe fruit contains cyanide, and is potentially toxic.

I think many of us need to let go of fear. The media and governments feed on it. It appears that they are testing our reactions this week to a variety of situations. An airplane “situation” in NYC scaring people and sending them into panic, justifiably so…come on. Ya just gotta think here. Ooopsie, photo opportunity…yeah, sure.

Now, we have this overblown hype about a flu that might GET YOU. It is funny, if I turn on the news, they tell you not to panic…yet in the same breath, you are told that it is close to a pandemic.

HUH??? Ah, the press…a lovely riddle within the conundrum within the puzzle.

New Flu Outbreak traced to missing U.S. Army Bioweapons

The Turner Radio Network has learned that the fast-moving and deadly new strain of Flu striking Mexico, California and perhaps New York City has been traced to missing Bioweapons from the top U.S. Army Bioweapons laboratory at Fort Derick, MD.

Chad Jones, spokesman for Fort Meade, said the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is investigating the possibility of missing virus samples from the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID)

He said the only other detail he could provide is that the investigation is ongoing.

Fort Detrick does not have its own CID office, Jones said, which is why Fort Meade’s CID was brought in.

Jones said he could not comment on when the investigation started.

CID is responsible for investigating crimes where the Army is, or may be, a party of interest, according to the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command website.

USAMRIID is the Army’s top biodefense lab, where researchers study pathogens including Ebola, anthrax and plague.

In February, USAMRIID halted all its research into these and other diseases, known as “select agents” following the discovery of virus samples that weren’t listed in its inventory. Apparently, someone had taken viruses from the inventory and replaced them with viruses that were not in the inventory! That concealed the loss of the bioweapons, thus preventing a lockdown long enough to allow someone to smuggle them out of the lab and off the base.

A source at the US Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, speaking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media, has told the Turner Radio Network that the new strain of flu which struck Mexico City, killing 60 so far, has now swollen to over 1,000 suspected cases. He also said that the “morphing-ability” of the new Flu — blending three types of flu into a new, fast moving and deadly strain — is exactly the type of new morphing bioweapon missing from USAMRIID.

Mexico City is about 1,000 miles south of California but days ago, the new flu appeared suddenly in California.

Late today, reports surfaced that another sudden and unusual flu-like outbreak struck at a Catholic Prep School 2,500 miles to the east in New York City.

Seventy five students in the Prep School suddenly took ill Thursday and Friday, causing the NYC Department of Health to ORDER the school to cancel all after school activities until further notice.

The 75 sick students are being tested to see if they too have been infected with this new, deadly flu.

Possible Terrorist Attack

At 12:30 AM ET this morning, I called a trusted source from the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) – the same source that leaked the “Right Wing Extremism Report” to me on April 12. At the late hour I expected to wake him up, but was surprised to find him already busy dealing with the Flu-like situation in NYC.

As of this moment, the United States government’s national threat level is Elevated, or Yellow. For all domestic and international flights, the U.S. threat level is High, or Orange.

According to the DHS source, if the 75 kids in the Prep School test positive for the same flu, then Homeland Security will consider raising the Terrorism Alert status to RED! They feel that the probability such a sudden onset sickness would jump from the west coast to the east coast within days, without touching the middle of the country, makes these outbreaks highly suspicious.

If DHS raises the threat level to RED, it would mean a terrorist attack has likely taken place and it would logically mean it took the form of a biological weapon.

Gee. What a convenient thing to happen to distract everyone’s attention from the worsening financial crisis.
