UK’s Airprox Board Reports On June 10, 2008 UFO Incident Over Birmingham…Says UFO Was ‘Sinister’

Well headlines blazed today with the announcement by the UK’s own Airprox Board(Air Proximity Hazards) that the UFO incident over Birmingham in June 2008 was of a “sinister” nature.

Now that ought to raise some hackles.

The Airprox Board’s website states that their objectives are:

” The UK Airprox Board’s primary objective is to enhance flight safety in the UK, in particular in respect of lessons to be learned and applied from Airprox occurrences reported within UK airspace.

To emphasise both the scope of its work and its independence, UKAB is sponsored jointly – and funded equally – by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The sole objective of the UK Airprox Board is to assess reported Airprox in the interests of enhancing flight safety. It is not the purpose of the Board to apportion blame or liability. To encourage an open and honest reporting environment, names of companies and individuals are not published in UKAB’s reports.”

Hence the Airprox Board released it’s latest report that has stunned the world including UFO experts. They’ve concluded that the UFO may have been of some sinister intent. That not only implies intelligent control but also intention validating the Board’s concern for air safety for civilian, military, and police aircraft.

Earlier on this blog, Nick Pope formerly of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain graciously gave me his viewpoint on the Birmingham incident. You can read it here.

Nick Pope’s assessment then came true with the release of the Airprox’s latest report and I’ll ask Nick again if he’ll comment on it.

UPDATE: Nick Pope again has given me a quote regarding this latest news:

Greg,

Any near-miss involving an aircraft is a serious issue. However, when the incident involves something that remains unidentified, despite extensive official enquiries, this is even more disturbing. This is because, unlike other near-misses, lessons cannot be learned and no action can be taken to reduce the risk of similar incidents occurring in the future. The related issue is that this isn’t an isolated incident. There are numerous such cases in the files of the Ministry of Defence and the Civil Aviation Authority. This is why I’ve called for a full inquiry, so these incidents can be considered collectively and not just on a case by case basis. It’s time to act, before we have a tragedy on our hands.”

Surprisingly I found that in 1998 there was a similar incident with similar results and conclusions. Here’s the story: UK UFO Baffles Aviation Experts

In brief it details that on June 12, 1998 a metallic grey colored object passed within “20-50 meters” from a McDonnell Douglas MD81 jet bound for Oslo. Although the pilots saw the object it too was not detected on radar.

It begs one to wonder if this latest incident is indeed connected to the 1998 incident which also occurred in the month of June. June 15th for the 1998 incident and June 10th for the 2008 incident almost exactly 20 years apart.

With this new report from Airprox, it gives investigators from both sides of the fence of UFOlogy and air safety more grist-for-the-mill on solving these incidents for the better safeguarding of our skies.

When the Birmingham UFO incident occurred, I too was more concerned with the safety of the skies and as a UFOlogist that is part of the territory. We don’t just look at UFO reports hoping to find some extraterrestrial menace or benevolent force from the unknown, it’s a field of study that covers many areas of safety that stretch from aerial collisions to crashes, to contamination of water and soil as well as the effect on livestock and of course persons’ well being.

Many UFOlogists are also professionals of the medical and rescue fields and brook no nonsense in regard to issues of safety and do a great service to everyone. This latest report by the Airprox Board adds more solid data that will allow us to better police the skies and provide safety for our pilots and civilians world wide.

A much needed round of applause is due to the professionalism and stalwart character of the Airprox Board in serving the public once again in light of the controversy undue ridicule that the UFO subject brings.

Man fined for penis in pasta jar

A MAN caught by police with his penis submerged in a pasta sauce jar was still pleasuring himself while resisting arrest, a court has been told.

Police drew their weapons after New South Wales man Keith Roy Weatherley, 46, led them on a brief, slow-speed car chase, the Newcastle Herald reports.

Weatherley attracted police attention while he was parked in a no-stopping zone near Nobby’s Beach on October 26, Newcastle Local Court was told yesterday. .

Police thought he might have a weapon because they saw him doing something with his hands in his lap, the Herald said.

Instead, they found him partially clothed with his genitals in a jar, a police statement said.

That’s when the pursuit began, the court was told.

When Weatherley was stopped, he refused to leave his car and four officers used batons and capsicum spray to get him out.

They found a 750mm jar around his penis and said Weatherley attempted to continue “pleasuring himself in between bouts of wrestling”.

A search of his car uncovered pornography, a homemade sex aid, women’s stockings and a Jack Russell terrier.

Weatherley pleaded guilty to offensive behaviour, resisting police and disobeying a police direction.

He was convicted and fined $600.

Possible meteor lights up the skies

EDMONTON — The bright flash of light across the Alberta sky earlier this evening wasn’t a bird and it wasn’t a plane.

It was a meteor seen from across this province and even parts of Manitoba.

“I did hear a boom … I lifted my eyes and this bright meteor was falling,” said Marcellin Gobeil, who lives on a farm about three kilometres west of Beaumont.

“It came down pretty fast, but it lasted a long time, a lot longer than I’ve ever seen it,” he said, adding the massive and awe-inspiring spectacle painted the dark sky at around 5:30 p.m. in bright shades of orange, green and blue. “When it hit the ground it was still lit.”

One Edmontonian even called the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre – the organization in Ontario that tracks airplane crashes throughout the country – shortly before the heavenly apparition was confirmed as a meteor.

“Somebody called here, she was driving downtown Edmonton and she saw a huge bright light turn orange,” said Capt. Pierre Bolduc with the centre, adding RCMP have gotten hundreds of calls.

Nikki Booth, spokesman for Edmonton Fire Rescue, said they also got calls about the flash of light, but did not respond to it, as they believed the meteor landed south of the city.

Gobeil, however, says the rocky space invader most likely slammed into the ground somewhere in Manitoba, which is just fine by him, after the moment of fear the apparition caused him.

“I was kind of scared, actually. I didn’t know what the heck it was and, to me, it was going to hit the town of Beaumont and that’s where my kids are,” Gobeil said. “It looked so close, and when I didn’t see any explosion or anything I said, ‘Good, it’s gotta be way past that.’ ”

“The question now that remains is whether anything made it to the ground,” said Chris Herd, a science professor at the U of A. “This thing was so bright it indicates that it’s a pretty good-sized piece of space rock.”

Herd is hoping that reports from the public will lead to finding the rock – if any of it survived the fiery fall – so he and others at the university can analyze it.

Anyone wishing to report their sighting is encouraged to do so at miac.uqac.ca.

A mammoth tusk to bring dead species back to life

*Are they CRAZY???*

THE woolly mammoth may be closer to walking again after scientists unscrambled most of its genetic code.

Experts from the United States and Russia say they have pieced together 80 per cent of the mammoth genome, using DNA samples extracted from hair preserved over tens of thousands of years.

The chemical sequences shed new light on the evolution of mammoths and elephants, and are expected to help answer why mammoths failed to survive.

They may also help future researchers bring the mammoth back to life by inserting its genes into the modern-day elephant, the scientists believe.

However, other experts said that resurrecting the woolly mammoth would be an enormously difficult task.

Much of the work was done using DNA taken from the hair of two mammoths mummified in Siberian permafrost. One had been buried for 20,000 years and the other for at least 60,000.

DNA data from a number of other specimens investigated previously helped to complete the genetic jigsaw.

Hair was a better source of DNA than bone because it protected the strands of genetic material like “biological plastic”, said the scientists.

The findings, reported today in the journal Nature, revealed that woolly mammoths and modern-day elephants share many genes and are more closely related than had previously been thought. The mammoth genome differs from that of the African elephant by as little as 0.6 per cent.

Parrot given Prozac after owner dies

Fred, an African Grey parrot, was owned by George Dance, who had rasied him from a chick.

After Mr Dance died nine months ago, Fred became depressed and bit off all of his neck feathers. He also began to bob his head up and down all day as a result of his low mood.

The bird has now been prescribed a twice-daily liquid dose of a bird-friendly version of Prozac, called Clomicalm.

George’s widow Helen, from Somerset, told The Sun: “He has been in quite a state since my husband died.

“Fred was very close to George and became depressed.”

According to experts, tropical birds are extremely emotional and the number who require anti-depressants is growing.

Late last year, a collie-Labrador cross called Winnie was given Clomicalm after it began to cry and pace nervously.

An animal behaviourist diagnosed Winnie with canine separation anxiety, and the mood-altering drug now helps her to cope.

Fred the parrot features in a Cutting Edge programme called Special Needs Pets on Channel 4 at 9pm tonight.
