Gunfire on tense border in Georgia

Georgian and separatist South Ossetian authorities are accusing each other of opening fire across the line of control in the ex-Soviet republic. Nobody was hurt, but the accusations have added to tension following the August war that strengthened Russian and separatist control over Georgia’s South Ossetia region.

The South Ossetian government said Sunday that a village came under sporadic automatic-weapons fire from Georgian-controlled territory for several hours late Saturday. It said South Ossetian forces did not return fire.

Mumbai Attacks Look Like A Western Intel Operation

The recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai India appear to be the work of a western intelligence agency. Sophisticated terrorist attacks are usually only executed by an institution with a vast amount of resources at their disposal, and not by terrorists living in a cave somewhere. History has shown that high profile terrorist attacks which get top billing in the media are in fact government sponsored. Already, India is blaming Pakistan for the attacks and we’ve also seen an onslaught of propaganda from media outlets attempting to place the blame for this attack on the fictional CIA founded organization Al-Qaeda. There are even eyewitness accounts saying that the attackers did not look like Indians but instead appeared to be western. In fact, some of the attackers have already been identified as British citizens of Pakistan origin. Of course none of that matters, since the media needs to sell the Al-Qaeda myth to the dumbed down masses here in America. Considering that Barack Obama has gone on the record talking about the possibility of using military force in Pakistani territory to go after Al-Qaeda terrorists, it looks as if this event is going to conveniently provide him the excuse to do so when he takes power in a few months. He can say that he is going after Al-Qaeda in Pakistan and the media will sell it as the right thing to do. Let’s face it; the only groups that would gain from the killing and wounding of hundreds of innocent people in India are western governments. It is allowing them to continue to sell the phony terror war to the dumbed down American sheep, it effectively plays off India against Pakistan and it provides the excuse for future U.S. military intervention into Pakistan.

Let’s get into more detail about who will gain and why they stand to gain from these attacks. First, the attacks allows the media to re-introduce the idea of the phony terror war back into the public eye. Despite the fact that there is little to no evidence that this was pulled off by some sort of Islamic terrorist group it is being billed as such an attack by Al-Qaeda. In addition, we have coincidentally seen terror alerts with claims that Al-Qaeda is planning to attack subways and Amtrak stations the same day of the Mumbai attack here in the United States. Even though the government can provide no specifics on the intelligence that lead them to conclude that this was a possibility, this has given them the excuse to pump more fear into the minds of the American people through the mass media propaganda complex. It has effectively brought the horror of the terror attacks in India closer to home in order to continue the media sell of the bogus terror war.

Second, it allows India and western governments to blame the attack on Pakistan as a pre-text to launch military operations on Pakistan soil. Obama has already said that he would take action against so called terrorists in Pakistan. Such attacks would not have anything to do with fighting the bogus terror war but instead would be used to exercise continued western influence in that portion of the world.

Third it serves as a way to create more tension between India and Pakistan both of which are nuclear powers and both of which have been fighting over the region of Kashmir for many years now.

Conveniently a new Al-Qaeda tape was released on the Internet yesterday showing the supposed number two of Al-Qaeda Ayman Al-Zawahri challenging the Bush administration to send the military into Pakistan. With each Al-Qaeda video and audio release it is becoming increasingly more obvious that Al-Qaeda is actually intentionally making statements to help fulfill the agenda of the west. If Al-Zawahri were really living in a cave somewhere it would be a little more difficult to make all of these video and audio tapes. Al-Qaeda is a fictional group created by the CIA, so considering that fact; wouldn’t it make more sense if Al-Zawahri were actually working for the CIA, instead of a phony organization that is really just a list of names? By challenging the Bush administration to send troops into Pakistan, he’s in fact giving credibility to the idea that there are terrorists that need to be defeated there.

Whenever these attacks occur, one has to look at who would gain the most from them. Clearly, the west has the most to gain from such an attack. They get to use these attacks to sell their phony terror war, play off India against Pakistan and it serves as a fantastic excuse to justify a future military invasion of Pakistan. The war on terror is a fraud and this appears to be yet another manufactured event that will allow the bloodthirsty criminals in Washington DC to continue their efforts in consolidating their power and control.

Expert: Small Ark. earthquakes could be warning

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A series of small earthquakes that rattled central Arkansas in recent weeks could be a sign of something much bigger to come.

By this weekend, seismologists hope to install three measurement devices to gather data about future temblors in the area. That information could show whether the rumbles come from heat-related geological changes or from an undiscovered fault — which could mean a risk of substantial earthquakes in the future.

“The potential for generating a high-magnitude earthquake is real,” said Haydar Al-Shukri, director of the Arkansas Earthquake Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Five earthquakes ranging in magnitude from 2.2 to 2.7 have hit central Arkansas this month. Quakes with a magnitude of 2.5 to 3 are typically the smallest felt by people.

While hundreds of earthquakes occur each year, including several in Arkansas, the location of the recent ones give Al-Shukri pause. Arkansas quakes generally occur in the state’s northeast corner, part of the New Madrid Seismic Zone, where three temblors with magnitudes of around 8 struck during the winter of 1812 and smaller ones continue today.

But central Arkansas does not have any seismic history, Al-Shukri said.

“It is abnormal. It is significant,” he said. “We need to carefully watch this activity.”

The area does not have any permanent seismograph, so researchers asked the University of Memphis in Tennessee if they could use its portable equipment. The nearest seismographs aren’t close enough to provide the detailed readings scientists need to determine what could be causing the tremors or properly locate their origin, said Scott Ausbrooks, the geohazard supervisor for the Arkansas Geological Survey.

“I don’t know if you’ve looked at a map of where these events are located, but they’ve got a scatter on them,” he said. “We’re thinking this is probably the inherited error built in when you try to locate events of this small a magnitude from that far away.”

Ausbrooks said officials would install the three seismographs around Magnet Cove, a Hot Spring County community near where a magnitude-2.7 earthquake hit on Nov. 1. Residents told police dispatchers they heard what sounded like an explosion.

One possible culprit could be a hydrothermal quake, caused by extremely hot fluid pushing into rocks under the surface. The hot fluid percolates into the cracks of the rocks and causes movement, Al-Shukri said.

That theory matches the geologic history of the area. Central Arkansas is home to Hot Springs, a city that grew up around its namesake spas. The springs have 143-degree waters rushing to the surface continuously.

If that’s the case, the earthquakes likely wouldn’t pose a drastic danger to the area, Al-Shukri said. At their strongest, such quakes reach only a magnitude of 5, the U.S. Geological Survey’s threshold for “moderate.”

However, if the earthquakes are caused by a previously unknown fault, that could mean a much more powerful temblor in the future. A recently discovered fault in eastern Arkansas near Marianna caused an earthquake with a magnitude of between 7.2 and 7.5 in the past 5,000 years, Al-Shukri said. That could cause widespread, heavy damage.

“Now, it’s not active, but in geologist time, that’s yesterday,” he said.

Ausbrooks wouldn’t speculate on what could be causing the earthquakes, saying he wanted to see what data the seismographs capture. However, he acknowledged an unknown fault could be running through the area.

“There are numerous faults across the state, both known and unknown,” Ausbrooks said. “This area has got a lot of faults associated with it from the mountain building of the Ouachitas, but they’re considered inactive.”

‘Sci-Fi Film’ CCTV Predicts Crime

*When are people going to WAKE UP and say these intrusions on privacy are enough? GET ANGRY!*

CCTVs are taking a step closer to the science fiction idea of the Minority Report with a predictive system being installed in a British city for the first time. Skip related content

The CCTV system has gone up in sites across Portsmouth and it will reportedly help predict crimes before they actually happen.

The city’s council has set up the network of “intelligent” cameras that can alert an operator to suspicious behaviour.

The system is able to spot “unusual” incidents like somebody loitering or a vehicle travelling too fast.

It then alerts CCTV operators so they in turn can assess the situation and decide what action – if any – needs to be taken.

The system is being set up to watch quiet areas like car parks, stairwells or corridors in buildings and streets at night-time.

This is to allow an operator to monitor more cameras without having to watch each screen simultaneously.

“Although we are a long way off Minority Report, it is a step closer,” said camera maker Smart CCTV’s Nick Hewitson.

“It is able to alert the operator to something that might be interesting such as a guy hanging around or somebody running.

“But what it cannot do is say whether that guy is waiting for his girlfriend or about to commit a crime.

“That is for the operator to make a subjective human decision on and make an appropriate response.

“The software is able to filter out all the boring information and gives the security operator alerts on things that might be interesting.”

The system, which has been running in several US cities, including New York, Washington and Chicago, is being given to Portsmouth for free.

Pakistan warns India against attack accusations

*Coming down Main street, folks…*

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Pakistan warned India against accusing of it links to the Mumbai terror attacks Thursday, saying doing so would “destroy all the goodwill” between the two nuclear-armed rivals.

The remarks by Pakistan’s defense minister came hours after Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said militants based outside his country carried out the atatcks.

Singh did not single out Pakistan, which New Delhi has accused of complicity in terror attacks on its soil before, but his remarks are likely to be taken as a sign here that India suspects Pakistani links somewhere in the plot.

A serious deterioration in relations between Pakistan and India, which have fought three wars since 1947, would greatly complicate U.S. foreign policy in South Asia as it tries to get Islamabad to focus less on its southern neighbor and more on tackling al-Qaida and Taliban militants along the Afghan border.

In 2001, militants fighting Indian-rule in the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir attacked the parliament in New Delhi, helping push the countries to the brink of war a year later.

The attacks late Wednesday saw teams of gunmen target at least 10 sites, including two luxury hotels, a railway station and a Jewish center, in the financial capital of Mumbai. More than 100 people were killed.

In an address to the nation, Singh said the group that carried out the attacks “was based outside the country” and warned its neighbors “that the use of their territory for launching attacks on us will not be tolerated.”

‘We should not be blamed’
Pakistan Defense Minister Ahmed Mukhtar condemned the attacks, but said “we should not be blamed like in the past.”

“This will destroy all the goodwill we created together after years of bitterness,” he told The Associated Press. “I will say in very categoric terms that Pakistan is not involved in these gory incidents.”

Earlier, Indian navy spokesman Capt. Manohar Nambiar said navy officers had boarded a cargo vessel it suspected of ties to the attacks that had come to Mumbai from Karachi, Pakistan. He later said the ship was not linked in any way to the strikes.

Many analysts said Wednesday’s attacks were more likely to have been carried out by indigenous, Indian extremist groups blamed for a series of bombings this year.

They also noted that India’s government stood to benefit politically for hinting at the involvement of its old rival — rather than admitting some of its own 145 million Muslims had become radicalized.

“It will always want to label this militancy as foreign rather than to accept it has its own problem,” said Shaun Gregory, an expert on South Asian terrorism at the University of Bradford in Britain. “That sells much more easily to the Indian public than admitting serious grievances within its Muslims.”

Improved relations
Relations between India and Pakistan have improved in recent years, helped by a reduction in the flow of militants into Kashmir, the divided and violence-torn territory at the core of their dispute.

Pakistan’s new president, Asif Ali Zardari, declared over the weekend that India posed no threat to Pakistan and called for the heavily militarized border to be opened for trade.

Earlier, Pakistan’s foreign minister said his country would cooperate in any investigation. He too warned against early speculation about the perpetrators.

“Let us not go in for knee-jerk reactions,” said Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who was in India for talks on a slow-moving South Asian peace process.

An Indian media report said a previously unknown group calling itself the Deccan Mujahideen claimed responsibility for the attacks in e-mails to several media outlets. There was no way to verify that claim.

Rohan Gunaratna, a terrorism expert at the International Center for Political Violence and Terrorism Research in Singapore, said he believed the terrorists were from India.

“The earlier generation of terrorist groups in India were mostly linked to Pakistan,” he said. “But today we are seeing a dramatic change. They are almost all homegrown groups.”

Canada becomes meteor hotspot as BC flashed by streaking debris

With asteroid experts currently searching out an impact point for the dazzling chunk of space rock that was visible from Alberta to Saskatchewan as it passed through the atmosphere earlier this week, residents of British Columbia have become the latest to witness an incoming meteor as it broke up in the Canadian skies.

Making its flaming arrival in the late afternoon on Tuesday, a number of onlookers in the Vancouver area contacted the news desk of Canadian broadcaster CBC regarding the meteor, which they claimed was clearly visible in the darkening sky for around two seconds.

“There was this rocket kind of looking object going from the east to west,” commented Jim Allen, who witnessed the event as it passed over Vancouver’s Grouse Mountain on the Pacific coast. “It didn’t look real,” he added.

According to another witness, the front of the meteor broke into several pieces as it rushed towards the ground, glowing brightly before then suddenly fizzling out and disappearing from view.

Much like the Alberta and Saskatchewan event, viewings of this latest meteor were not limited to the Vancouver mainland, with residents of Prince George, located some 800 kilometres to the north, were also treated to the sudden blaze of speeding flame.

Specifically, Prince George amateur astronomer Mike Nash told CBC that he also saw the brightly lit object passing east to west as it moved low across the sky. And, according to Mr. Nash, that trajectory rules out the burning up of a satellite, which are launched to travel west to east in order to take advantage of the planet’s rotation.

According to members of the Prince George Astronomical Society, the meteor tore through the atmosphere reaching an altitude of 70 degrees as it descended in a south westerly direction, which ties in with various news reports claiming the meteor came down over the Georgia Strait and Gulf Islands.

The week’s earlier meteor sighting, which created an amazing light show that wouldn’t have looked out of place in a Hollywood blockbuster, has since spawned a feverish hunt for remaining debris and a $10,000 USD reward.

Mumbai: Hostages freed as PM blames ‘outsiders’

*This is following a very well-defined script, isn’t it?*

MUMBAI, India (CNN) — Fresh gunfire and explosions were heard late Thursday in Mumbai as police battled terrorists at three sites almost 24 hours after the first wave of violence hit the city.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh suggested the group behind the terrorist attacks, which killed 125 people, was based outside the country.

CNN reporters said regular gun fire and blasts could be heard at the Oberoi and Taj Mahal hotels and a Jewish center in the city.

Police had some success with 10 hostages reportedly freed from the Oberoi despite a major fire.

Shortly after authorities said the siege had ended at the Taj Mahal hotel, two explosions were heard, similar to the six blasts heard earlier.

It was not immediately clear what caused any of the explosions. Witnesses said continuous gunfire could be heard at the hotel.

A fire from earlier billowed smoke through one of the hotel’s windows, as firefighters poured water over the plumes.

A few blocks away, at the Hotel Oberoi, a major fire raged Thursday night through one floor there, CNN’s sister network in India, CNN-IBN, said.

The network reported 30 people were trapped, and said gunshots could be heard. Later, an explosion was heard from the hotel’s rear side.

At least three or four terrorists are still holding hostages in both the Taj Mahal and Oberoi hotels, British officials told CNN on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Singh suggested the group behind the attacks probably had “external linkages.”

“It is evident that the group which carried out these attacks, based outside the country, had come with single-minded determination to create havoc in the financial capital of the country,” he said.

The death toll from the series of coordinated attacks was at 125, including at least six foreigners, by Thursday evening authorities said. An Italian and Briton were among the confirmed dead.

Another 327 people were wounded in the attacks, including seven British, three American and two Australian citizens.

In addition, at least nine gunmen were killed in fighting with police. CNN’s sister network in India, CNN-IBN, quoted police sources as saying they believed there were around 26 gunmen, most of them young.

Also among the dead was Hemant Karkare, the chief of the Mumbai police’s anti-terror squad, and 14 police officers.

Indian officials have told Canada that they believe six Canadians are being held hostage in the two hotels, according to a senior aide to Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The Canadian government has no information of its own to confirm the number or to ascertain if they are among the dead or injured, being held captive or just stuck in the hotels.

Authorities found 8 kilograms (17 pounds) of RDX, one of the most powerful kinds of military explosives, at a restaurant near the Taj, indicating that the attackers may have been planning more violence.

Gunmen also remained holed up in a building called Chabad House, where several Jewish families live. Rabbi Gabriel Holtzberg, the city’s envoy for the community, was being held inside with his wife, a member of the Hasidic Jewish movement said. The couple’s 18-month-old baby was released unharmed.

Two women and an infant were seen escaping from the building but three to four residents remained captive inside, an Indian official said.

Police said gunmen fired indiscriminately from the building. Stray bullets killed a couple in their home and a 16-year-old boy who stepped outside, police said.

Police surrounded the building and exchanged gunfire in which one of the gunmen reportedly was shot, CNN-IBN said.

First White House Chrismukkah cards accidentally sent

WHITE HOUSE (CNN) – Whoops! A picture of a Christmas tree is not the first thing you would expect to see on an invitation to an event celebrating Hanukkah, but that is exactly what recipients of invitations to this year’s White House Hanukkah reception initially got in the mail.

The invitation sent to American Jewish leaders on behalf of the President and First Lady, requesting “the pleasure of your company at a Hanukkah reception,” bore an image of a Clydesdale horse-drawn cart, carrying the White House Christmas tree, with a Christmas wreath-adorned White House in the background.

Mrs. Bush’s press secretary, Sally McDonough, attributed the snafu to a “staff mistake” in not printing separate cards for the different White House holiday events, as has been the custom in years past. “Mrs. Bush is apologetic, It is just something that fell through the cracks,” she said, referring to the role of the First Lady’s office in sending out the invitations.

The card as originally intended featured a menorah given to the White House during Harry Truman’s presidency. That mailing was to have gone out today, according to Mrs. McDonough.

McDonough added that the White House had received “dozens” of calls of support from members of the Jewish community to express their appreciation for what President and Mrs. Bush had done for them through the course of Mr. Bush’s presidency.

The Thanksgiving Hoax

*Very articulate…I found this a great read.*

Thanksgiving is tomorrow.

And over the last 40 years of my life, I’ve always invested Thanksgiving with my family.

But this year is quite different. This year I’m going to treat the 4th Thursday of the month just like any other day… host my internet radio broadcast (while the rest of my family continues to celebrate a lie).

Sad? Of course. But we must protest. The only way to wake people up to the real truth is to take bold moves. And trust me, this move has caused quite a division on the homefront here.

As a full-time Mr. Mom, I’m fortunate to be able to invest almost every day home with my family. I chose family over making the big bucks. So I don’t need the government (who officially crowned Thanksgiving by congressional act in 1789) to remind me to hang out with my family and watch football.

You see, we’re brainwashed into thinking Thanksgiving is a celebration. Quite frankly, we should be treating it the opposite way — in mourning.

Now I understand that’s depressing news. And we sure don’t need any more of it considering our economy these days. But the bottom line is Thanksgiving as we know it is one big whopper of a lie.

We all think we know what happened several hundreds of years ago…

… But quite frankly we don’t know jack about the real story of Columbus and his gang of thugs.

Tracking down the real history (i.e. his story) of Thanksgiving wasn’t easy. Historians have buried what really happened between the English and the Indians.

“America had often been discovered before Columbus,
but it had always been hushed up.”
- Oscar Wilde Irish dramatist, novelist, & poet (1854 – 1900)

Even the world’s most popular encyclopedia online (Wikipedia) admits, “The date and whereabouts of the first Thanksgiving celebration is a topic of modest contention.”

Yes, the image of Indians and first settlers sitting around a large table to celebrate Thanksgiving Day was most probably true (again, I wasn’t there to witness it), but that’s about the only truth of Thanksgiving. The rest of the story appears to be quite opposite of what we’ve been told.

This history of Thanksgiving is quite complex… here’s a snapshot:

Christopher Columbus returned to the New World (that’s no mistake… he apparently came back at least once) with 17 ships and more than 1,200 men. Their mission was clear… slaves and gold… going island to island in the Carribean.

Get this — all told, an estimated 3 million Indian people were murdered between 1494 and 1508 (just 14 years).

(Side note: Moses Mordecai Marx Levy — also known as Karl Marx would later call this, “… The primitive accumulation of capital.” Boy that Mr. Marx is one hell of a swell Kosher man, isn’t he?)

Next stop on the English Peace Train was when the Pilgrims visited New England (known back then as Turtle Island). The Pilgrims used religion as an excuse to grab land in what we now call today Massachusetts.

Town by town, these Pilgrims plundered, murdered, raped women, and stole gold. And end the end, the Indian population of 10 million was reduced by at least 90%.

Let me repeat this. The Pilgrims apparently slaughtered their new friends and reduced the Indian population to less than 10%. I guess the Indians weren’t Jewish so we can’t possibly refer to this genocide as a Holocaust now can we.

And there you have it… a snapshot of what really happened over 400 years ago… totally made over by public relations to give us what we know think of as Thanksgiving.

So as you’re sitting back with your family, watching the big game, and participating in the sacrifice of your Butterball Turkey, you might want to remember what really happened on Turtle Island many centuries ago.
